Faridabad Garment Trader Dies by Suicide, Video Names Wife and In-Laws

A 28-year-old garment trader from Ballabhgarh in Haryana's Faridabad district was found dead inside his garment shop on Sunday, prompting a police investigation after a video recorded before his death surfaced on social media.

The deceased, identified as Rahul, was a resident of Sector 3 Housing Board Colony in Ballabhgarh. According to police, he had opened the garment shop around four months ago. After receiving information about the incident, officers reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.

Before his death, Rahul allegedly recorded and uploaded a video on Instagram in which he made several allegations against his wife, Jyoti (also known as Preeti), his mother-in-law Veena, father-in-law Bittu and his wife's sister Neetu. In the video, he claimed that he had been subjected to physical assault and prolonged mental harassment. He also alleged that despite performing household chores, including sweeping, mopping and washing utensils, he continued to face abuse and threats of false legal cases.

Rahul further stated in the video that he held the named individuals responsible for his death and requested that legal action be taken against them. He also expressed his wish that his property should be inherited by his mother, sister and brothers.

Following a complaint lodged by Rahul's family, police registered an FIR against the individuals named in the complaint. Investigators have confirmed that the allegations made in the video are being examined as part of the ongoing probe. Authorities are also verifying the authenticity of the video through digital and forensic examination and are collecting additional evidence, including statements from family members and other relevant witnesses.

Police have emphasized that the investigation is at an early stage and that the allegations contained in the video have not yet been established in a court of law. Officials said all aspects of the case are being examined before any conclusions are drawn.

The case has attracted significant public attention and sparked discussions on marital disputes, mental health and the legal process surrounding allegations of harassment. Legal experts note that while a video statement can become an important piece of evidence, investigators must corroborate its contents with independent evidence before determining criminal liability.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid sharing unverified claims or reaching conclusions while the investigation remains ongoing. The findings of the forensic examination, witness statements and other evidence will form an important part of the investigation before the matter proceeds through the judicial process.

The incident has also highlighted the importance of mental health awareness. Experts advise individuals experiencing emotional distress, harassment or overwhelming personal difficulties to seek help from trusted family members, qualified mental health professionals or local support services at the earliest opportunity. Early support and intervention can make a meaningful difference during times of crisis.
