On Friday, April 3, 2026, the residents of Shiv Nagar Bypass near Niwaru Road were gripped by fear when a sack containing a partially burnt body was discovered. The Kardhani police were immediately alerted, arriving at a scene that pointed toward a professional attempt to destroy evidence. The victim’s face and waist had been doused in petrol and set ablaze, making immediate identification nearly impossible.
The Investigation and CCTV Breakthrough
The Jaipur West Police, led by senior officials, launched an immediate investigation. The breakthrough came not from a witness, but from technology. While scanning CCTV cameras along the Niwaru Road stretch, investigators spotted a suspicious sight: a woman and a young boy struggling to transport a heavy sack on a cycle rickshaw during the late hours of the night.
By tracing the route of the rickshaw back to its origin, the police arrived at a rented accommodation in Riddhi Siddhi Colony. There, they found 35-year-old Mousumi, who eventually confessed to the crime during interrogation.
The Motive and Method
The victim was identified as Sheikh Sahan, a native of Malda, West Bengal, who worked as a laborer in Jaipur. According to police reports, the couple frequently engaged in heated arguments. On the night of the incident, a domestic dispute escalated to a point of no return.
Mousumi confessed that she struck Sahan on the head with a heavy object—likely a hammer—rendering him unconscious. To ensure he did not survive, she and her minor son used a rope to strangle him. After the murder, they waited for the cover of darkness to dispose of the body. In a desperate attempt to prevent the police from identifying Sahan, they poured petrol on the body and set it on fire before stuffing it into a sack.
Legal Action and Current Status
The Jaipur police have officially arrested Mousumi on charges of murder and destruction of evidence. The 15-year-old son, being a minor, has been taken into custody and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
This case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting a disturbing trend of domestic violence escalating into extreme criminal acts involving family members. The police are currently conducting further forensic tests to gather more evidence for a water-tight case in court.
