NEET UG 2026: 7 Things You Must Check Before Admit Card Release!

The countdown to India’s most significant medical entrance exam has officially begun. With over 25 lakh students registered for NEET UG 2026, the pressure is palpable. While your revision is likely in full swing, administrative preparedness is just as vital as your knowledge of Biology or Physics. The NTA has confirmed that the NEET UG 2026 exam will take place on May 3, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Before you head to the official portal to download your hall ticket on April 26, here are seven essential things you must check and prepare.

1. Verify Your Exam City Intimation Slip

Before the admit card is even released, the NTA provides an "Advance City Intimation Slip." This was made available on April 12, 2026. If you haven't checked it yet, do so immediately. While 99.2% of candidates have been allotted their first-choice city, knowing your location early allows you to finalize travel and lodging plans, especially if your center is in a different district.

2. Keep Your Login Credentials Ready

To download the NEET UG 2026 admit card, you will need three specific details:

  • Your Application Number

  • Date of Birth

  • Security Pin (as shown on the login page)

If you have misplaced your application number, use the "Forgot Registration Number" feature on the official NTA website. Having these ready will prevent panic when the server experiences high traffic on release day.

3. Check for Discrepancies in Personal Details

Once you download the PDF, do not just look at the center address. Carefully scrutinize your name, roll number, category, and date of birth. Even a minor spelling error can lead to issues during the biometric verification process at the center. If you find an error, contact the NTA helpline (011-40759000) immediately.

4. Prepare the Correct Photographs

The admit card requires you to paste a specific 4"x6" color photograph (postcard size) with a white background. This photo must be the same one you uploaded during the registration process. Additionally, carry at least two extra passport-sized photos for the attendance sheet at the venue.

5. Understand the Strict Dress Code

NEET is famous for its rigorous frisking. Ensure your exam day outfit complies:

  • Clothes: Light-colored, half-sleeved clothes without large buttons or heavy embroidery.

  • Footwear: Slippers or low-heeled sandals are allowed; shoes are strictly prohibited.

  • Prohibited Items: No jewelry (rings, nose-pins, necklaces), watches, or electronic gadgets.

6. Confirm the Reporting Time and Gate Closing

The NEET UG 2026 exam begins at 2:00 PM, but the entry gates close strictly at 1:30 PM. Your admit card will specify a staggered reporting time. It is highly recommended to visit your exam center a day in advance to understand the route and traffic conditions.

7. Essential Document Checklist

Ensure you have a transparent folder ready with the following:

  • A clear color printout of the NEET UG 2026 Admit Card (all pages).

  • A valid original Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Voter ID).

  • PwD certificate (if applicable).

  • The Self-Declaration (Undertaking) form filled out correctly.
