PUBG Mobile 4.4: How to Slay the Centaur and Claim the Hero's Crown

The PUBG Mobile 4.4 update has officially arrived as of May 12, 2026, bringing the legendary Hero’s Crown themed mode to Erangel and Livik. While the map is filled with new mythical trials, the most daunting challenge is the Centaur Boss residing within the Temple of Olympus. Taking down this behemoth requires more than just ammunition; it requires a tactical understanding of its mechanics and the environment.

Understanding the Centaur’s Lethal Arsenal

The Centaur is a dynamic boss that scales its difficulty based on your distance and health. You must be prepared for three primary attack phases:

  • The Charging Gallop: The boss lowers its head and charges at incredible speed. A direct hit can deplete nearly 60% of a player's health and cause a significant knockback effect.

  • Earthquake Stomp: If your squad crowds the boss, it will perform a shockwave attack that deals area-of-effect (AoE) damage and leaves players briefly stunned.

  • Mythical Arrow Barrage: Once the Centaur reaches 50% HP, it begins firing tracking arrows that follow players across the arena.

Pro Strategies for the Kill

1. Exploit the Weak Point

While headshots are standard, the Centaur has a specific glowing crystal core on its chest. Landing sustained fire on this core deals 1.5x damage and can stagger the boss, effectively canceling its high-damage animations. High-DPS weapons like the M249 or the new Laurel - M1 Garand are highly recommended for this phase.

2. Vertical Positioning

Do not fight the Centaur on the flat temple floor. Utilize the elevated platforms and pillars within the Temple of Olympus. Keeping at least two squad members on the upper ledges forces the boss to constantly switch targets, preventing it from successfully completing its "Charging Gallop".

3. Strategic Use of the Sun Chariot

The new Sun Chariot vehicle is not just for travel; it provides an auto-healing aura when parked within the Crown’s Abode. Keep the chariot nearby so low-health teammates can cycle out of the fight to recover without using valuable medical supplies.

4. Tactical Utility

  • Smoke Grenades: Use these to break the tracking of the Centaur’s Arrow Barrage.

  • Stun Grenades: While the effect is brief, a well-timed stun can interrupt the boss during its "Earthquake Stomp" wind-up.
