Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu: The death toll from a devastating ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing facility in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district has risen to eight, with around 70 workers continuing to receive treatment in hospitals, according to officials.
The incident occurred on Sunday when ammonia gas reportedly leaked from the plant's refrigeration system, exposing workers inside the facility to toxic fumes. Most of those affected were women employed at the seafood processing unit, with a significant number of workers belonging to migrant communities from Odisha and Assam.
