CCTV Reveals Chilling Moment UP Advocate Was Murdered; Killers Struggle with Stalled Bike
By WaveINO Newsroom•Apr 11, 2026
The state of Uttar Pradesh has once again been rocked by a daring act of violence as a practicing advocate was shot dead in broad daylight in the Mirzapur district on April 11, 2026.The victim, identified as Rajeev Singh (also known as Rinku Singh), was targeted while he was out for his routine morning walk in the Katwaru Ka Pura locality. The incident, which unfolded in full public view and was captured on CCTV, has raised serious questions regarding the safety of legal professionals and the brazenness of criminals in the region.
According to preliminary police reports and eyewitness accounts, the attack occurred around 7:00 AM on Saturday. As Singh, who was the husband of a village head (Pradhan), was walking, two men on a motorcycle approached him.One of the assailants dismounted and fired at Singh from close range using a country-made pistol. The advocate collapsed instantly and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
What followed the shooting was a sequence of events that added a layer of desperation to the crime.CCTV footage of the area captured the entire ordeal. After the fatal shot was fired, the gunman rushed back to the waiting motorcycle. However, the vehicle failed to start. For several agonizing moments, the attackers were seen struggling with the bike, kicking the pedal repeatedly in a frantic attempt to flee.
As the bike stalled, a crowd of local residents began to gather, alerted by the sound of the gunshot. In a desperate bid to keep the public at bay, the assailants reportedly brandished their weapon at the onlookers, threatening anyone who dared to intervene.Eventually, the engine roared to life after the killers swapped positions, and the duo managed to speed away from the scene, leaving behind a community in deep shock and mourning.
The local police, led by Mirzapur Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik, reached the site shortly after the incident.Initial investigations suggest that the murder may be the fallout of a long-standing personal dispute related to village elections (Gram Pradhani).Reports indicate that the victim and the primary suspects are residents of the same village, Devaru, and had been at odds over local political matters for some time.
The legal fraternity in Uttar Pradesh has reacted with intense anger to the news. Bar associations have called for immediate action and heightened security for advocates, who frequently face threats due to the nature of their work. The police have registered a formal case and five specialized teams have been formed to track down the suspects, utilizing the clear CCTV footage to establish identities.
As of this afternoon, the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and security has been beefed up in the Katwaru Ka Pura area to prevent any further escalation of tension. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the volatility of personal disputes and the ease with which firearms are deployed in the state's hinterlands.
