How to Get Your New Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card Under VB-G RAM G

On May 11, 2026, the Government of India made a historic announcement that marks the end of an era for rural employment and the beginning of a new one. The Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, commonly known as the VB-G RAM G Act, is set to officially replace the 20-year-old MGNREGA starting July 1, 2026.

This isn't just a name change; it is a "next-generation" overhaul designed to align rural jobs with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. Here is everything you need to know about this new mission.

Key Highlights: How VB-G RAM G Changes Everything

The VB-G RAM G Act introduces several significant upgrades to the existing rural employment framework.

1. 125 Days of Guaranteed Work

Unlike MGNREGA, which provided a 100-day guarantee, the VB-G RAM G Act statutory guarantee has been increased to 125 days of unskilled wage employment per financial year for every rural household.

2. Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card

The old MGNREGA Job Cards will eventually be replaced by the new Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card.

  • Transition: Existing e-KYC verified Job Cards remain valid until the new cards are issued.

  • New Registration: If you don't have a card, you can apply through your Gram Panchayat orally, in writing, or via digital platforms.

3. Weekly Wage Payments

To ensure financial security, the Act prioritizes weekly wage payments. Wages must be paid within 15 days of work completion via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). If delayed, workers are entitled to a "delay compensation."

Technical SEO Breakdown: Core Domains

The new Act focuses on creating productive assets under four specific thematic domains:

  • Water Security Works: Groundwater recharge and irrigation.

  • Core Rural Infrastructure: Roads and village connectivity.

  • Livelihood-related Infrastructure: Storage facilities and markets.

  • Extreme Weather Mitigation: Infrastructure to fight climate change.

New Features for Women and Youth

  • Childcare Support: If five or more children under the age of five are present at a worksite, a dedicated woman worker will be appointed for childcare.

  • Unemployment Allowance: If the government fails to provide work within 15 days of demand, an unemployment allowance (at least 1/4th of the wage rate) must be paid by the State Government.

  • Agricultural Harmony: To help farmers, state governments will notify a "no-work period" during peak sowing and harvesting seasons to ensure labor is available for farms.
